Courses

I provide quality training and mentoring in nature awareness, permaculture design, and regenerative land use skills.  I work closely with other teachers in these fields, often collaborating within a larger mentoring team.  If the type of course you’re looking for doesn’t appear on this list below, you can contact me about a program custom-designed for your organization or community.

Courses I lead or am closely involved in:

Carbon Farming Course

I’m helping to organize this unique 3-week series of workshops on regenerative agriculture, led by some of the best trainers from around the world.  Topics include keyline water planning, holistic management, tree crops & agroforestry, perennial farming systems, biochar, and much more.  In Chestnut Ridge, NY, just north of NYC, Jan-Feb 2012.  Learn more here.

Permaculture Design Courses

The internationally recognized, 72-hour certification course in permaculture design and regenerative land use.  Upcoming: PDC at Camp Epworth in High Falls, NY, led by Kay Cafasso, January to May 2012.  Next summer: the Southern Vermont PDC in collaboration with Vermont Wilderness School and and Greenfield Community College’s Farm and Food Systems initiative.  Weekend series from June to August 2012 in Brattleboro, VT.

Art of Mentoring

6-day immersion in a living nature-based mentoring village, for ages 3 to elder.  Vermont Wilderness School has been putting these life-changing programs on in southern Vermont for 12 consecutive years.  Also offered by The PINE Project in Toronto, ON; Art of Mentoring UK in the British Isles; and other locations around the world.

Bird Language

Bird language is the ultimate art of seeing through the eyes of the animals.  It is a powerful learning path for deep earth connection, scout invisibility, and self-awareness and humility.  You can read more about bird language here.  Recently concluded: New England Bird Language Intensive with White Pine Programs in Cape Neddick, ME.  Next dates for a weekend or week-long bird language course TBA.

Eyes of the Forest Naturalist Program

This is my 1/2 day a week, three-season course in tracking, bird language, survival skills, and knowledge of place.  Currently on pause.  Contact me for more information.
